APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's tennis standout Connor Maloney picked up Midwest Conference Player of the Week honors after a perfect record for the week.

Maloney (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) posted a pair of wins as Lawrence won its only dual match of the week.

In a 9-0 victory over Marian University, Maloney moved up one spot in the lineup and responded with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. Maloney also teamed with Bill Schuman-Kline for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. Led by Maloney, Lawrence shut out the Sabres for the 12th consecutive time in a streak dating back to 2003.

Maloney improved to 5-5 in singles this season, and he is 6-5 in doubles. This is the first time Maloney has been honored with the conference's weekly award, and the second consecutive week Lawrence has won the award.

The Vikings return to action on Sunday when the Vikings host Grinnell College and Cornell College to open Midwest Conference play.
