Vikings double up MSOE in season opener

Lawrence's Cade Francour was a winner at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Vikings.

GLENDALE, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's tennis team got its season off to a winning start Sunday with a 6-3 nonconference victory MSOE at the Elite Sports Club River Glen.

Lawrence led 2-1 after the doubles competition and then won four of the six singles matches against the Raiders (0-3).

The No. 1 doubles team of Connor Maloney and Cade Francour and the No. 2 team of Aidan Delgado and Evan Oriel both won 8-7.

Maloney was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at No. 1 singles, and Francour clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Delgado lost a first-set tiebreaker at No. 2 but came back to win the second set and then rolled to a 10-4 victory in the super tiebreaker to take the mtach. Oriel grabbed the other singles victory with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4.
