Vikings take second at MWC Tournament

Lawrence finished second at the Midwest Conference Tournament.

MADISON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's tennis team finished second at the Midwest Conference Tournament Friday after a 5-0 loss to Grinnell College in the title match at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Lawrence's runner-up finish was the team's best since taking second in 2013.

The Pioneers (25-4) got off to a great start by winning all three doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles match was the tightest as Connor Maloney and Cade Francour battled to an 8-6 loss.

Grinnell then closed out the Vikings with victories at No. 6 and No. 1 singles.

Lawrence finishes the season with a 12-9 record.
