DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Lawrence University men's tennis team fell 7-2 in a nonconference match at Loras College on Saturday.

Taking advantage of a warm spell, the understrength Vikings played outdoors at Tucker Courts. Lawrence, playing without two starters, picked up a win in the doubles competition and another victory in singles.

The No. 2 doubles team of Connor Maloney and Cam Strawn picked up an 8-7 victory over Riley Collins and Sean Gelski. Matt Chan was a winner for the Vikings at No. 4 as he defeated Connor Pivnicka 6-4, 5-7, 1-0. Chan won the third-set super-tiebreaker 10-5.

Maloney had an epic battle with Kevin Blomquist at No. 1 singles. Maloney won the opening set 7-6, and Blomquist took the second set 7-6. That forced a third-set super-tiebreaker, and Blomquist pulled out a 14-12 win.
