Lawrence's Sandacz wins twice at Viking Invitational

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Dan Sandacz won two events Saturday to lead the men's track team at the Viking Invitational at Whiting Field.

Sandacz grabbed first in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.55 seconds and took the top spot in the 400 hurdles in 59.12 seconds.

Led by Sandacz, the Vikings finished second with 165 points. St. Norbert College was first with 209, Ripon College took third with 110 and the Greater Milwaukee Track Club was fourth with 52.

Wes Hetcher fired the javelin 154 feet, 3 inches, to grab first in that event. Hetcher placed second in the pole vault at 12-6.75 and took fourth in the long jump at 18-2.25.

Jackson Straughan grabbed first in the hammer throw with a toss of 145-1, and Teddy Kortenhof was first in the 3,000 steeplechase at 10:48.65.

Noah Shea took second in the triple jump at 43-0.5, as he was edged by Nick Schilling of the GMTC at 43-2.5.
