GALESBURG, Ill. -- Lawrence University track and field standout Noah Shea completed a season sweep by winning the triple jump Saturday at the Midwest Conference Championships.
Shea, a freshman from Chaseburg, Wis., won his second MWC title of the year as he captured the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 11 inches, at Trevor Field at Knox College. Shea, who took the league title indoors in March, won by more than a foot over Grinnell's Ibuki Ogasawara, who was second at 43-10.75.
Distance standout Josh Janusiak followed up on his title in Friday's 10,000 meters by taking fifth in the 5,000 on Saturday. Janusiak posted a time of 15:35.09.
Both of Lawrence's relays also placed eighth. The 4x400 team of Shea, Sandacz, Mik Patel and Teddy Kortenhof finished eighth in 3:30.94. The 4x100 team of Shea, Hetcher, Terrell Myers and Wasonu Allen was eighth in 45.95 seconds.
The Lawrence men finished eighth in the team standings with 35 points. Monmouth took the title with 152.
Lawrence rookie Mikaela Hintz and junior Hannah Kinzer led the women on Saturday. Hintz grabbed fifth in the 400 in 1:01.62, and Kinzer raced to fifth in the 5,000 19:34.05.
Christina Sedall was the other individual placewinner as she raced to sixth in the 3,000 steeplechase in 12:32.69.
The women's 4x400 relay team of Hintz, Janey Degnan, Kate Kilgus and Amy Hutchings grabbed sixth in 4:16.64.
Lawrence finished ninth with 17.5 points, and St. Norbert took the team title with 221.
