RIPON, Wis. -- Lawrence University standout Josh Janusiak was named the Track Performer of the Meet on Saturday as he lead the Vikings to fifth place the Midwest Conference Championships.
Janusiak, who set a meet record in winning the 5,000 meters on Friday, grabbed third place in the 3,000 with a time of 8:40.62. Lawrence teammate Joe Kortenhof was fifth in 8:41.82.
Lawrence finished with 52 points, and Monmouth won the team title with 145.
Will Nichols leaped to fourth place in the triple jump with a distance of 42 feet, 7.5 inches. Gabe Baker set a Lawrence record as he took fifth place in the weight throw. Baker's toss of 50-1.25 broke the 2011 record of 48-11.5 set by Nick Kerkman.
Lawrence also placed sixth in two relays. The 4x400 relay of Nichols, Cullen Allard, Dan Sandacz and Mik Patel was sixth in 3:34.44. The distance medley relay of Allard, Patel, Sandacz and Ben Schaefer was sixth in 10:59.29.
On the women's side, Lawrence placed two runners in the top eight in the 3,000. Alex Chand was fifth in 10:52.68, and Hannah Kinzer was eighth in 11:08.75.
Lawrence also placed in the top seven in both relays. The distance medley relay of Kate Kilgus, Janey Degnan, Christina Sedall and Erin Schrobilgen was fifth in 13:33.03. THe 4x400 relay of Degnan, Emily Hoeft, Hallie Sogin and Mikaela Hintz was seventh in 4:23.72.
Lawrence was ninth in the team standings with 25 points, and St. Norbert won the title with 178.
