Nichols breaks record in 200, records pair of top-five finishes at Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. -- Lawrence University track and field standout Will Nichols broke the school record in the 200 meters and recorded a pair of top-five finishes Saturday at the Don Church Twilight Meet at Wheaton College.

Nichols crossed the line in the 200 meters in 22.46 seconds to nip the school record  by .02 seconds. Nichols, who finished third in the event, topped the record of 22.48 seconds set by Josh Meyer in 2001.

Nichols also grabbed fifth place in the 100 meters in 11.27 seconds.

Nichols also teamed with Ethan Simmons, Tom Goldberg and Alex DuVall to finish sixth in the 4x100 relay in 45.33 seconds. Lawrence's other placewinner was Gabe Baker, who took fifth in the discus with a throw of 124 feet, six inches.

On the women's side, Molly Doruska ran to victory in the 10,000 meters in a time of 42:07.36. Christina Sedall raced to third place in the 3,000 steeplechase in 12:02.71.

Eryn Blagg placed in one event and ran on a relay that finished in the top six. Blagg grabbed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 82-2, and she teamed with Emily Hoeft, Mikaela Hintz and Nora Robinson to take sixth in the 4x100 relay in 53.99 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team of Hoeft, Hallie Sogin, Brynn Schroeder and Madeline Stevenson took sixth in 4:42.42.
