APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University track and field star Josh Janusiak has collected another weekly honor from the Midwest Conference.
Janusiak (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) has been named the MWC Track Performer of the Week for the second week in a row. Janusiak collected the honor after shattering his own school record and posting a top time nationally in the 10,000 meters.
Competing at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays, Janusiak finished second in the event with a time of 30:17.00 to smash his record of 30:58.96, which he set at the same meet in 2017. Janusiak was just eight seconds behind Michigan State's Joe Riordan, who won the event in 30:09.14.
Janusiak's time places him 11th in all of NCAA Division III. Janusiak also ranks in the top 15 in the nation in the 5,000 meters and broke his own school record in that event on April 19.
This marks the seventh time during the 2017-18 academic year that Janusiak has been named a conference performer of the week with the honors split between cross country and track and field. Janusiak has been honored 12 times during his career.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when it hosts the Viking Invitational at Whiting Field. Action begins at 10 a.m.
