Janusiak, Kortenhof lead Vikings on final day of MWC Championships

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- Lawrence University track and field stars Josh Janusiak and Joe Kortenhof both placed in the 5,000 meters Saturday to lead the Vikings on the final day of the Midwest Conference Championships at Zorn Memorial Stadium.

After winning the 10,000 meters on Friday, Janusiak raced to fourth place in the 5,000 with a time of 15:03.75. Kortenhof, who was second in the 10,000, grabbed sixth in the 5,000 in 15:22.27.

Cullen Allard was the other individual placewinner for the Vikings as he took sixth in the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:18.85.

Lawrence's 4x100 relay team of Ethan Simmons, Alex DuVall, Tom Goldberg and Allard took seventh in 46.83 seconds. The 4x400 relay team of Simmons, DuVall, Allard and Patel grabbed eighth in 3:31.00.

The Lawrence men were eighth with 35 points, and Monmouth College won the title with 201.

Mikaela Hintz led the women by placing in the 400 meters and running on a pair of relay teams. Hintz was sixth in the 400 in 1:01.45. She teamed with Janey Degnan, Hallie Sogin and Alyssa Kuss to place seventh in the 4x400 relay in 4:16.14. The 4x100 relay team of Hintz, Nora Robinson, Imani Duhe and Eryn Blagg took eighth in 52.38 seconds.

Hannah Kinzer was the top finisher on the day for the Vikings as she took third in the 5,000 in 18:53.77. Christina Sedall was the other individual placewinner for the Vikings as she took sixth in the steeplechase in 11:58.93.

The Lawrence women were ninth with 23 points, and St. Norbert College won the title with 194.
