Relays, Janusiak lead the way for Vikings at MWC Championships

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- Both of Lawrence University's distance medley relay teams posted top-three finishes Saturday to lead the Vikings on the final day of the Midwest Conference Championships at the Huff Athletic Center.

The women's distance medley relay team of Christina Sedall, Alyssa Kuss, Natalie LaMonto and Leah Hawksford took third in 13:13.93 and earned all-conference honors in the process. The 4x400 relay team of Kuss, Emily Hoeft, Claire Schrier and Mikaela Hintz grabbed sixth place in 4:22.10.

Alex Chand led the individual finishers for the Lawrence women as she took fourth in the 3,000 meters in 11:00.15.

Lawrence also had two placewinners in the field events. Kealey Cate took seventh in the pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 8.5 inches, and Tobin Carlson was eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 43-7.75.

The Lawrence women finished ninth with 22 points, and St. Norbert won the title with 218.

The men's distance medley squad of Josh Janusiak, Billy Daniels, Ethan Simmons and Cullen Allard grabbed third and earned all-conference honors with a time of 10:44.04. 

Janusiak also earned all-conference honors when he finished third in the 3,000 meters in 8:46.21. Janusiak won the 5,000 meters on Friday. 

The Lawrence men finished 10th with 24 points. Monmouth won the title with 190.5 points.
