ROXBURY, Mass. -- Lawrence University track star Josh Janusiak ran to an 11th-place finish Friday in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Janusiak came in with a time of 14:45.28, and the winner was North Central College's Dhurvil Patel, who took first in 14:24.86. The final All-America spot went to Wartburg College's Sam Pinkowski, who was eighth in 14:35.67.

"I felt like I did my best today, but I missed my goal," said Janusiak, who was shooting to become an All-American. "It's extremely motivating for outdoors though and knowing how many people are out there supporting me really helps me move onto the next big goal."

Lawrence had a watch party at the Warch Campus Center to follow Janusiak's progress.

This was Janusiak's first trip to the indoor national championships, and he has earned All-America honors outdoors in the 10,000 meters and in cross country.

"Josh did everything he could today," Lawrence coach Jason Fast said. "He ran his best and made us all proud to be Vikings. I know he's a little disappointed, but this will fuel his fire for the outdoor season."
