Kortenhof posts one of nation's top times in 3,000 meters

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- Lawrence University track standout Joe Kortenhof raced to second in the 3,000 meters Saturday to lead the Vikings in their dual meet with UW-Oshkosh at Kolf Sports Center.

Kortenhof posted a time of 8:43.51, which ranks as the 20th-fastest in all of NCAA Division III. The top finisher was UW-Oshkosh alumnus Joe Zack, who ran to a winning time of 8:31.66.

Aaron Arthur and Billy Daniels finished third and fourth, respectively, in the mile. Arthur posted a time of 4:43.02 and Daniels was on his heels in 4:45.11. Mik Patel raced to third in the 800 as he recorded a time of 2:05.76.

Lawrence's 4x400 relay team of Ethan Simmons, Julian Garcia, Tyler Antoine and Cameron Wicks was third in 3:45.86, and Antoine also finished fifth in the 60 hurdles in 9.12 seconds.

Leah Hawksford raced to victory in the mile to lead the Lawrence women. Hawksford won the event with a time of 5:32.47 as she finished nearly five seconds ahead of second place. Natalie LaMonto finished fourth in the race at 6:03.45.

Lawrence's 4x400 relay team of Emily Hoeft, Hallie Sogin, Emily Sugiyama and Mikaela Hintz was third in 4:28.43. Hoeft also grabbed third in the triple jump witha  leap of 32 feet, 0.75 inches, and Sogin was fifth in the 400 in 1:08.31.

Eden Sorensen grabbed a fourth place in the 60 hurdles in 10.34 seconds, and Madeline Taylor was fourth in the 800 in 2:49.84.
