APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University standout Joe Kortenhof was named the Midwest Conference Track Performer of the Week after a stellar season debut.

Kortenhof (Portland, Ore./Lincoln), a senior, was chosen after posting one of the nation's top times in the 3,000 meters this past Saturday.

Competing in a dual meet with UW-Oshkosh at Kolf Sports Center, Kortenhof was the top varsity finisher in the 3,000 as he ran to a time of 8:43.51, which currently ranks 27th in all of NCAA Division III. Kortenhof, who also owns the top time in the Midwest Conference, finished 22 seconds ahead of the next runner in the race.

This is the latest accolade in a sensational senior year for Kortenhof. The 2019 Midwest Conference cross country champion and a qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships, Kortenof earned five MWC Performer of the Week honors during the fall.

Lawrence returns to action on Saturday at the Red Hawk Opener at Ripon College.
