APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country star Josh Janusiak has been named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week after his victory this past weekend.

Janusiak (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee), a junior, grabbed the award after winning the individual title at the Ken Weidt Classic at Concordia University Wisconsin. Janusiak cruised to the victory by covering the 8,000-meter course in 25:53.0, and he finished ahead of the second-place runner by 1:42. Led by Janusiak, the Vikings were sixth in the team standings.

This is the first individual title of the season for Janusiak and the third of his career after winning the Midwest Conference Championships and Gene Davis Invitational in 2016.

This marks the fifth time Janusiak has been named the MWC Performer of the Week. He won the honor three times in 2016 and once in 2015.

The Vikings return to action on Sept. 22 when Lawrence competes at the Brissman Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
