APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country standouts Josh Janusiak and Hannah Kinzer have been named the Midwest Conference Performers of the Week.
Janusiak (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) and Kinzer (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) were honored after their performances at the Brissman Lundeen Invitational last Friday in Rock Island, Ill.
Kinzer, a senior who was named Performer of the Week for the first time in her career, finished seventh overall and was the top Midwest Conference finisher at the 17-team meet. With temperatures in the mid-90s, the race was shortened to 5,000 meters, but Kinzer still blazed to a time of 19:36.7 at Saukie Golf Course. In three events this season, Kinzer remains unbeaten against Midwest Conference competition.
Led by Kinzer, Lawrence finished ninth in team standings.
Janusiak, a junior who earned his sixth Performer of the Week nod, won his second individual title of the season at Brissman Lundeen. The men's race was shortened to four miles from the usual 8,000 meters, and Janusiak covered the distance in 20:19.3 to win by more than five seconds over Shane Witters Hicks of Principia College.
Janusiak, who also won the title at the Ken Weidt Classic at Concordia Wisconsin University earlier this month, picked up his second Performer of the Week award of the season. This also marks the fourth individual career title for Janusiak, the defending Midwest Conference champion.
The Vikings have the week off and return to action on Oct. 7 when they host the Gene Davis Invitational at Reid Golf Course in Appleton.
