APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country standout Joe Kortenhof has been named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week.
Kortenhof (Portland, Ore./Lincoln), a senior, won the award after turning in the top performance by a league runner at the Tom Barry Invitational. Running the four-mile route through Colburn Park in Green Bay, Wis., Kortenhof raced to third place in a time of 20:56.5.
In addition to being the top runner from the Midwest Conference at the meet, Kortenhof topped his previous best time on the course by 37 seconds. Led by Kortenhof, Lawrence grabbed third place in the team standings.
This is the second MWC Performer of the Week honor for Kortenhof, who also won the award during the 2017 season.
Lawrence returns to action on Sept. 20 when the Vikings travel to Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis., for the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge.
