ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Lawrence University cross country standout Joe Kortenhof placed 12th Friday to lead the Vikings at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational.
Kortenhof completed the 8,000-meter course at Saukie Golf Course in 25:43.5 to take 12th, and the University of Chicago's Ryan Cutter finished first in 24:59.2.
Teslin Stecher was next for the Vikings as he placed 64th in 27:10.9, and Cullen Allard was close behind as he took 72nd in 27:18.5. Itai Bojdak-Yates took 97th in 28:12.0, and Aaron Arthur rounded out the scoring for the Vikings by placing 100th in 28:13.6.
Lawrence finished 13th in the team standings with 345 points. Chicago won the title with 15.
On the women's side, Leah Hawksford was the top Lawrence finisher as she placed 59th and finished the 6,000 meters in 24:38.2.
Natalie Lamonto grabbed 87th in 25:45.4, and Alex Chand was 96th in 26:29.7. Finishing the scoring for Lawrence were Madeline Taylor, who was 101st in 27:34.7, and Amanda Endicott, who was 111th in 30:27.2.
Lawrence finsihed 15th with 454 points, and Chicago won the team title with 36.
