APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's cross country star Joe Kortenhof won his fourth Midwest Conference Performer of the Week award this fall.
Kortenhof (Portland, Ore./Lincoln), a senior, won the honor after being the league's top finisher at the massive KollegeTown Invitational on Oct. 19.
Kortenhof finished 37th in a field of more than 450 runners from many of the nation's top NCAA Division III teams. Kortenhof covered the 8,000 meters at Lake Breeze Golf Course in 25:43.5 to finish 30 seconds ahead of the next finisher from a Midwest Conference school. The time ties Kortenhof's fastest run of the season, and that ranks second in the conference.
This is the fourth time this season Kortenhof has been named the conference's Performer of the Week, which is the most in a season by a Lawrence athlete since the award was instituted in 2003.
Lawrence returns to action when it travels to the Midwest Conference Championships on Nov. 2 in Galesburg, Ill.
