Kortenhof's finish nets All-Midwest Region honor

Lawrence's Joe Kortenhof will run in the NCAA Division III CHampionships.

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country star Joe Kortenhof earned All-Midwest Region honors after his finish at the meet on Nov. 16.

Competing in the NCAA Division III regional championships in Winneconne, Wis., Kortenhof finished 14th in the toughest region in the country. He completed the 8,000 meters at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis., in 25:08.2, which is the third-fastest time in school history.

Kortenhof's finish earned him a berth as an individual qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships, which take place on Nov. 23 in Louisville, Ky. This is Kortenhof's first trip to the national meet and marks the third consecutive year Lawrence has had a national qualifier.

Kortenhof was one of three all-region honorees, two men and one woman, from the Midwest Conference. Kortenhof had the best regional finish of any runner from the Midwest Conference.
