APPLETON, Wis. -- The Cornell College softball team swept a Midwest Conference doubleheader from Lawrence University on Sunday at Whiting Field.
The Rams won the opener 10-3 and took the nightcap 14-4 in five innings.
In the first game, Carley Robison and Melissa Orton both had three hits as the Rams collected 15 hits. Jesse Applehans allowed five hits over six innings to pick up the win. She struck out six and walked four.
The Rams (14-7, 5-3 MWC) jumped on Lawrence with five runs in the first inning and started to pull away with two more in the third. Cornell sealed the victory with three more runs in the seventh.
Emilia Jackson gave up seven hits and seven runs over three innings and took the loss.
Lexi Angemi went 2-for-3 and drove in all three runs for the Vikings. Angemi blasted her first career homer, a solo shot in the third.
In the nightcap, Lawrence (11-11, 2-4) jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first inning before Cornell stormed back in the fourth.
Cornell scored eight times in the fourth to grab a 9-4 lead and closed out the game with five more runs in the fifth. The Rams finished with 19 hits, including three from Robison and Orton.
Haley Harmon allowed five hits over five innings to get the win. MacLean went 4.1 innings and took the loss.
