JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Illinois College softball team used one big inning in the opener and a sustained attack in the nightcap Sunday to sweep a Midwest Conference doubleheader from Lawrence University.
The Lady Blues rallied to win the first game 5-2 and posted an 8-0 win in five innings in the nightcap.
Illinois College (21-9, 13-3 MWC) then struck for five runs in the fifth, highlighted by Katie Prizer's two-run single.
Jackson, MacLean and Lexi Angemi all went 2-for-3 for the Vikings (14-18, 5-11).
Mariah Hedges went the distance to get the win for Illinois College, and MacLean pitched the first 4.1 innings and took the loss.
In the second game, Illinois College jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and scored in the next four innings to pull away.
Jackie Reilly went 3-for-4, scored two runs and drove in two more for the Lady Blues. Jess Feig allowed five hits over five innings to get the shutout.
Jackson went the distance and took the loss for Lawrence.
Looker went 2-for-2 to pace the Vikings.
