CLERMONT, Fla. -- Caroline Young limited Lawrence University to three hits Saturday to lead the St. Lawrence University softball team to a 3-1 nonconference victory over Lawrence University.
Young went the distance, struck out three and did not walk a batter for the Saints (1-1).
St. Lawrence scored single runs in the first, fourth and seventh. Skylar Hein went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs for the Saints.
Lexi Angemi paced Lawrence (2-1) by going 2-for-3, and she drove in the Vikings' lone run.
Lawrence trailed 1-0 after the top of the first, but Amanda Karnatz was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Angemi's single to tie the game at 1-1. The Saints then got run-scoring singles in the fourth and seventh to pull ahead.
Madeline MacLean went the distance and took the loss for Lawrence. She allowed 10 hits, struck out four and walked two.
