CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Keene State College softball team jumped on Lawrence University early Saturday and went on to a 12-6 nonconference victory.
Keene State (3-7) collected 15 hits and scored 10 runs in the first three innings. Molly St. Germain went the distance to get the win, and she allowed 10 hits while striking out seven and walking three.
Amanda Karnatz went 3-for-3 with a double and scored a pair of runs to pace the Vikings (2-2). Madeline MacLean went 2-for-2 and drove in a pair of runs for Lawrence, and Sofie Pedersen also collected a pair of hits.
Lexi Angemi belted a solo homer and drove in a pair for the Vikings.
Keene State built a 10-4 lead after three innings before Angemi hit a homer to start the fifth. Lawrence added another run in the sixth to trim the margin to 10-6, but the Owls scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to push the lead back to 12-6.
The Vikings loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh but were unable to draw any closer.
Emilia Jackson went the distance and took the loss for the Vikings.
