Both Karnatz (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and Larson (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) were chosen for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region team, and both were second-team selections.
Karnatz, a sophomore center fielder, was named to the all-region squad for the second consecutive season after being a third-team pick as a rookie in 2017. Karnatz hit .422 with seven doubles, one triple, one homer, 13 runs batted in and 32 runs scored.
Karnatz collected 13 multi-hit games and had four-hit games against Clarkson University and Grinnell College. She finished with 49 hits, which is the third-highest season total in school history. Karnatz finished the season with eight multi-run games and swiped 21 bases in 24 tries this season.
Karnatz, who hit a team-best .419 in 18 Midwest Conference games and finished with four doubles, one triple, seven RBI and 13 runs scored, was a first-team All-Midwest Conference selection for the second straight year.
Larson, a freshman catcher, hit a team-high .439 and led the team with 10 doubles, three triples, five homers and 25 RBI. Larson, one of three first-year players from the Midwest Conference to receive all-region honors, also led the team with a .500 on-base percentage and .729 slugging percentage.
Larson smacked a pair homers in a game twice during the season, against Alverno College and Monmouth College. Larson collected seven multi-RBI games and posted a season-best four RBI against Alverno.
Larson was also a first-team all-conference selection after hitting .410 with four doubles, three triples, three homers and 12 RBI in league play.
This marks the 10th consecutive season Lawrence has had at least one all-region selection. The Vikings have had at least one player chosen for the all-region team in 21 of the past 22 seasons.
