Lawrence fell 10-2 to UW-Stevens Point.

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The first inning was the difference Thursday as the Lawrence University softball team dropped a 10-2 nonconference game to UW-Stevens Point at the National Training Center.

The Vikings gave up nine runs in the top of the first on just five hits as Stevens Point seized control early.

Lawrence (1-8) scored single runs in the third and fourth to account for its scoring. The Vikings were limited to three hits, one apiece by Maria Reiter, Amanda Karnatz and Ceara Larson.

The Vikings got on the board in the third when Karnatz singled and then scored on Larson's single. Lawrence added another run in the fourth after Reiter led off with a triple and scored on Lexi Angemi's sacrifice fly.

Stevens Point (7-7) broke the game open in the first and the two key hits were Madi Greenaberg's three-run double and Morgan Johnson's three-run double.

Anna Palicka went four innings to get the win for the Pointers. Emilia Jackson went the distance and took the loss for Lawrence.
