CLERMONT, Fla. -- A big second inning proved to be the difference on Thursday as the Lawrence University softball team lost a 7-2 decision to Thomas College at the National Training Center.
The game was tied 1-1 when Thomas scored five times in the bottom of the second to surge ahead.
Lawrence had seven players collect one hit apiece, and that includes a Liz Jonjak triple and a Lexi Angemi double. The Vikings got a run-scoring double from Angemi in the second, and Ceara Larson added a run-scoring single in the third to complete Lawrence's scoring.
The Terriers (2-2) had nine hits, and the big blow in the decisive second inning was Bailey Dunphy's two-run triple.
Kelsey Currier went four innings to get the win, and Sydney LeBourveau tossed three innings of relief for the save. Madeline MacLean went two innings and took the loss for the Vikings (1-9).
