APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University softball standout Ceara Larson has been selected as the Midwest Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Larson (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf), a sophomore catcher, earned the honor after leading the Vikings to a 3-1 record this past week. She also was chosen as the MWC Player of the Week on April 1.
Larson hit .545 for the week by going 6-for-11, smashing three homers and driving in six runs. She put together a stunning 2.122 OPS by posting a .667 on-base percentage and 1.455 slugging percentage.
Larson went 2-for-3 with two homers and drove in three in Lawrence's 5-0 win over Ripon College. She followed that by going 1-for-2 with a double as Lawrence beat Ripon 9-1 to complete the doubleheader sweep. Larson then went 3-for-6 with a homer and two runs batted in as Lawrence split a nonconference doubleheader with the University of Chicago.
Larson has pushed her average on the season to .435 with eight doubles, a conference-best nine homers and 29 RBI in 26 games.
Lawrence returns to action Monday as the Vikings travel to St. Norbert College for a Midwest Conference doubleheader.
