Lawrence falls to Scots

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- The Lawrence University softball team was held to one hit through the first four innings Saturday and dropped am 11-3 nonconference game to Macalester College at the Rochester Dome.

Lawrence (1-1) was limited to six hits by a pair of Macalester pitchers. 

Amanda Karnatz led the Vikings by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and two runs batted in. Lexi Angemi went 2-for-2 and scored a pair of runs for the Vikings.

Joia Simonson went six innings, allowed four hits and two runs to get the win. Angemi went the first five innings for the Vikings and took the loss. 

Macalester scored twice in the first and pulled away with four runs in the fifth. The Scots added five runs over the final two innings.

Lawrence was down 6-0 when the Vikings scored twice in the bottom of the fifth. Angemi singled and later scored on Karnatz's single to get the Vikings on the board. Liz Jonjak followed with a single and an error on the play allowed Karnatz to score and trim the lead to 6-2.

The Vikings tacked on a run in the seventh when Angemi singled and later scored on Karnatz's double.
