APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's basketball sensation Kenya Earl has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.

Earl (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City), a rookie forward, was chosen after averaging a double-double in two games this past week. Earl averaged 24.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 87 percent from the foul line.

Earl scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Lawrence's 64-58 win over Illinois College that snapped a long conference losing skid for the Vikings. Earl followed that with a season-high 25 points and nine rebounds in a 68-58 loss to Knox College.

Earl went 14-for-26 from the floor and 20-for-23 from the foul line in the two games while adding three blocks and five steals. Earl is averaging 20.2 points per game this season, and that ranks second in the Midwest Conference. She is eighth in rebounding at 8.2 per game. Earl ranks second in the league in free-throw shooting at 87.8 percent and third in field goal percentage at 47.8.

Earl is the first Lawrence player to be named the league's Player of the Week since Katie Schumacher on Dec. 16, 2013.

Lawrence returns to action Monday when it hosts Maranatha Baptist University in a nonconference game at Alexander Gymnasium.
