FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Randolph-Macon College women's basketball team surged ahead in the second quarter Sunday and went on to a 68-52 nonconference victory over Lawrence University at the Cruzin' Classic.
Lawrence trailed only 28-22 with 3:30 left in the second quarter, but Randolph-Macon went on a 10-4 run to close out the half and expand the lead to 38-26 at the break.
The Yellowjackets (7-1) opened the second half on a 10-2 outburst to push the lead to 48-28 with 3:48 left in the third quarter. Lawrence (2-9) never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
Kenya Earl paced Lawrence with 15 points and five rebounds, and Leah Reeves added 13 points and five rebounds for the Vikings. Erin Hill came off the bench to chip in with eight points for Lawrence, and Olivia Hoesley also had eight points.
Kelly Williams led Randolph-Macon and all scorers with 22 points and 22 rebounds. Becca Arrington added 11 points for the Yellowjackets, and Jayla Wade had 10 points and six assists.
