MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The Cornell College women's basketball team pulled away in the second quarter Friday and went on to an 87-46 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University at the Multi-Sport Center.
Anne Visser scored 13 points to lead three Cornell players in double figures.
Cornell led 19-10 after the first quarter, but Lawrence opened the second period with consecutive baskets by Shonell Benjamin, Nicole Cummins and two by Reeves to trim the margin to 19-18. The Rams then finished the quarter on a 22-8 run to lead 41-26 at the half.
Lawrence never got closer than 13 points in the third quarter, but the Rams turned it on in the fourth. Cornell outscored Lawrence 28-4 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
