LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team hung with Lake Forest College deep into the fourth quarter Tuesday before the Foresters pulled away for a 62-49 Midwest Conference victory at the Sports and Recreation Center.
Leah Reeves led three Lawrence players in double figures with 16 points. Kenya Earl added 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Shonell Benjamin picked up 10 points for the Vikings (4-10, 1-7 MWC).
Molly Schoenlein led Lake Forest (7-7, 6-1) with 20 points, and Kelsey Burton had a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Vikings trailed 45-39 entering the fourth quarter before surging to within a point. Reeves, Benjamin and Earl all make layups to trim the margin to 46-45 with 6:45 remaining.
The Vikings missed a shot that would have given them the lead, and Lake Forest then pulled away. Hannah Hiland started a 10-0 run for the Foresters with a three-point play, and Lake Forest built their lead to 56-45.
Lawrence didn't get closer than nine points after that.
