DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team dropped a 77-63 nonconference decision to North Park University on Sunday in the consolation game of the Loras College Holiday Tournament.
North Park (9-2) outscored Lawrence (4-5) 26-14 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.
Kenya Earl paced Lawrence with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Earl passed Katherine Lofgren (975) for fifth place on Lawrence's career scoring list and now has 986 points.
KJ Davis added 12 points for Lawrence, and Ashley Batac came off the bench to hit a trio of 3-pointers and finished with 11 points. Lawrence's Shonell Benjamin chipped in with 10 points, and Emma Carlson pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
Lauren Lee led North Park with 19 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Lawrence jumped on North Park from the opening tip as it raced out to a 10-0 lead as Benjamin, Earl and Davis hit the first three shots from the floor. Liz Jonjak capped the opening outburst with a 3-pointer with 6:32 left in the first quarter.
North Park scored the final five points of the first quarter to trim the lead to 21-16 after one. North Park took its first lead at 22-21 and would lead by as many as six points in the second quarter. Lawrence finished the second quarter on a 7-2 run, highlighted by a Batac triple, to cut the lead to 33-32 at the half.
The teams battled to a standoff in the third quarter as North Park never gave up the lead but also never led by more than three points in the period.
North Park then seized control early in the fourth quarter. After Delaney Brooks buried a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 53-52, North Park scored the game's next nine points to grab a 62-52 lead.
Lawrence trailed 64-54 when it got a Benjamin layup and a Batac 3-pointer to trim the margin to 64-59 with 4:34 remaining. North Park then scored the game's next eight points, and Lawrence couldn't draw closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
