BELOIT, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team saw Beloit College pull away in the third quarter Saturday, and the Bucs went on to a 71-56 Midwest Conference win at Flood Arena.
Lawrence trailed by seven at halftime, but Beloit went on a run over the final four minutes of the third quarter to push the advantage to 15 heading to the fourth quarter. Lawrence never got closer than that over the final 10 minutes.
First-year guard Ashley Batac came off the bench to lead Lawrence (5-12, 2-8 MWC) with 12 points and three assists. Lawrence star Kenya Earl was limited to 11 points as she went 1-for-10 from the floor but hit 9-of-10 shots from the foul line.
Dani Strejc and T'Aira Boyance had 14 points apiece to lead Beloit (3-14, 1-9).
Beloit led 42-29 in the third quarter before Batac buried a 3-pointer and followed with a jumper to cut the margin to 42-34. The Bucs then went on a 13-6 run to finish the period and led 55-40 after three.
