APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Michael Hall was named the Varsity Coach of the Year by the Midwest Fencing Conference.
Hall, who just completed his first season as the Vikings' head coach, led the Vikings to combined finish of third place at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships. Both the men and women finished fifth and that translated into a combined finish of third place among the 23 teams in the MFC.
The Vikings also had a pair of fencers finish in the top six during the individual MFC Championships. Nathan Schlesinger grabbed sixth in foil, and Joe Davis was sixth in sabre.
During the regular season, the Lawrence men posted a 9-6 record in dual matches, and the women finished 8-8.
Ohio State's Vladimir Nazlymov was named Conference Coach of the Year, and Michigan was named Club Team of the Year.
