Boulandier Leza, Wright earn places on All-MFC team

APPLETON, Wis. -- Two Lawrence University women's fencers have been named to the All-Midwest Fencing Conference team.

Maria Boulandier Leza (Huarte, Spain) and Maggie Wright (Marion, Iowa) were chosen for the team and both compete in epee for the Vikings. Boulandier Leza made the second team, and Wright received honorable mention.

Boulandier Leza led Lawrence at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships by taking seventh in epee. She won a pair of matches to reach the quarterfinals before a loss to Ohio State's Emma von Dadelszen, but Boulandier Leza came back to defeat another Ohio State fencer for seveth place. Wright reached the round of 16 before she was knocked off by Boulandier Leza and finished in 10th place.
