APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Ryan Berkley scored a hat trick Saturday to lead the Vikings to a 5-0 non-conference win over Rockford University on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
It was the first career hat trick for Berkley, who also added an assist.
Kelli Quick and Amy Courter also scored their first career goals for the Vikings (2-10-0). Lawrence goalkeeper Katlyn Seiffert made three saves for the Vikings to pick up her second shutout of the season.
Berkley got the scoring started with her goal at the 12:05 mark after the Vikings took the ball from a Rockford defender. Quick then got her first goal when she scored off a pass from Danielle Dixon at the 24:22 mark.
Lawrence led 2-0 at the half, but Lawrence struck quickly in the second half.
Berkley made a long solo run up the left sideline and put the ball over the head of Rockford goalkeeper Drew Garcia to make it 3-0 at the 53:13 mark. Berkley scored again on a nice give-and-go with Mia Pardo at 58:10 for a 4-0 edge.
Courter capped the scoring at the 85:24 mark with her goal off some nice passing from Dixon and Berkley.
Garcia played the first 81 minutes, made 10 saves and took the loss for Rockford (4-9-0).
