Peterson scores twice as Marian tops Vikings

Lawrence dropped a 6-0 nonconference decision to visiting Marian.

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Marian University women's soccer team scored four times in the opening 18 minutes Wednesday and went on to a 6-0 nonconference win over Lawrence University on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

Alexis Peterson scored back-to-back goals in less than six minutes to stake the Sabres (2-1-0) to a 3-0 lead. Marian, which scored just 1:42 into the match, then added another goal at the 17:29 mark.

The Sabres finished the scoring with a pair of goals in the first 22 minutes of the second half.

Danielle Deltgen played the first 45 minutes and picked up the win for Marian. Claire Vinopal stopped 18 shots for the Vikings (0-3-0).
