Lawrence rolls past the Storm

Lauren Turner scored her first two career goals in Lawrence's 4-0 victory over Crown.

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team picked up a quartet of firsts on Saturday as part of the Vikings' 4-0 nonconference win over Crown College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

Lawrence coach Joe Sagar collected his first career victory, Lauren Turner and Samantha Tolu both scored their first career goals and Sarah Yochem earned her first career victory in goal.

The Vikings dominated the match as they piled up a 20-2 advantage in shots, including a 14-1 edge in shots on goal. Yochem made one save but cleared the ball in tight situations twice to preserve the shutout.

Turner got the scoring started with her first career tally at the 11:09 mark off an assist from Amy Courter. The Vikings maintained that 1-0 edge at the break.

Tolu pushed the lead to 2-0 when got her first career goal just 2:21 into the second half off an assist from Hallie Sogin.

Lawrence then sealed the win with a pair of goals in the final seven minutes, and both came off corner kicks. Ellie Younger's corner kick at the 83:11 mark found Courter, who buried it in the back of the net for a 3-0 lead. Younger's corner kick with 1:54 left found the foot of Turner, who volleyed it in for a 4-0 lead.

It marked Lawrence's first shutout victory in 25 matches, dating back to a 5-0 win over Rockford University on Oct. 7, 2017.
