Big early hole too much for Vikings

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team fell into a big hole early Sunday and lost a 6-1 Midwest Conference match at Monmouth College.

The Scots pulled out to a 3-0 lead and then answered when the Vikings scored.

Lawrence's Ellie Younger scored off assists from Natalya Harp and Kelli Quick just 49 seconds into the second half to trim Monmouth's lead to 3-1. 

Monmouth's Kara-Jade Gordon scored less than two minutes later to push the lead back to 4-1. Gordon finished with three goals for the Scots.

Sarah Yochem made the start and collected six saves in the first 57 minutes. Kensey Arlt did not make a save for Monmouth. 

Monmouth had a 24-2 edge in shots.
