APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's standout Erin Lengel was named the Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week after her performance in the All-Wisconsin Showcase to kick off the season.

Lengel (Boylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) was part of two relays that finished in the top six, and she posted a pair of top-15 individual finishes. A sophomore, Lengel earned MWC Swimmer of the Week honors for the third time in her career.

Swimming against Wisconsin's best that included teams from NCAA Division I to Division III, Lengel teamed with Emmi Zheng, Sarah Schweickart and Lizzy Garcia to take sixth in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:57.97. The 400 freestyle relay of Lengel, Garcia, Bridget Duero and Mandy Marsh took sixth in 3:51.15.

Lengel took 13th in a pair of individual events, the 200 freestyle in 2:02.07 and the 100 butterfly in 1:02.78.

The Vikings return to action on Saturday when Lawrence hosts Ripon College in a dual meet at 1 p.m. at Boldt Natatorium.
