Lawrence swimmers sweep past Beloit

The Lawrence women defeated Beloit 168-41, and the men topped the Bucs 114-91.

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University swim teams swept Beloit College on Saturday in a dual meet at Boldt Natatorium.

The Lawrence women posted a 168-41 victory, and the Lawrence men topped Beloit 114-91.

On the women's side, four Vikings won two events apiece and one school record fell.

Madeline Smith won the 1-meter diving with a score of 224 to break her own record of 212. She also won the 3-meter diving with a score of 157.85.

Elise Riggle won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:43.86 and took first in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:43.19. Lizzy Garcia grabbed first in the 50 freestyle in 26.32 seconds and was first in the 100 freestyle in 57.62 seconds. Erin Lengel took the top spot in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.20 and was first in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.20.

Bridget Duero won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.87, and Caitlyn Lansing was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.38. The Vikings also won the 200 medley relay in 1:56.84 and won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.53.

On the men's side, Charlie Phillips and Anton Hutchinson both won two events. Phillips grabbed first in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:07.42 and was first in the 500 freestyle in 5:18.24. Hutchinson was tops in the 200 freestyle in 1:50.25 and took first in the 100 freestyle in 50.39 seconds.

Liam Wulfman grabbed first in the 200 individual medley in 2:11.56, Max Stahl was the winner in the 100 backstroke in 58.06 seconds and Tom Goldberg took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.26. The Vikings also won the 200 medley relay in 1:43.26 and took first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:42.06.
