Vikings claim four titles at Private College Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Lawrence University swimming and diving teams claimed four individual titles on Saturday at the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Carthage College.

Mizuki Ohama won the 100-yard butterfly and 200 butterfly, Emmi Zheng captured the 100 breaststroke and Charlie Phillips took first in the 200 butterfly.

The Lawrence women finished third with 111 points, and Carthage took the team title with 274. The Lawrence men were fourth with 84 points, and Carthage won with 235.

Ohama swam to first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.75, and she swam to first in the 200 butterfly in 2:11.68. Zheng took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.38, and she finished second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.01.

The Vikings also grabbed three other second-place finishes. Maddy Smith was second in the 1-meter diving with a score of 396.15, and Mae Grahs was second in the 1,650 freestyle in 19:26.22. Erin Lengel took second in the 500 freestyle in 5:31.18, and she was third in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.26.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Mandy Marsh, Bridget Duero, Leena Meyers and Laurel Soderquist took third in 1:46.66.

Phillips grabbed the title in the 200 butterfly in 2:07.92 to pace the Lawrence men.

Anton Hutchinson posted a pair of second-place finishes and grabbed a third place as well. Hutchinson was second in the 500 freestyle in 4:53.59 and second in the 1,650 freestyle in 17:32.82. He took third in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.06.

The 200 medley relay team of Max Stahl, Tom Goldberg, Phillips and Hutchinson took second in 1:43.34. The 200 freestyle relay team of Stahl, John Berg, Liam Wulfman and Jordan Spalding was third in 1:36.85.
