APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's swimming standout Erin Lengel was named Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week after multiple wins this past weekend.
Lengel (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), a junior, won two events and finished second in another at Lawrence's Gene Davis Invitational. This marks the sixth time in Lengel's career that she has won Swimmer of the Week honors.
Swimming in her home pool at Boldt Natatorium, Lengel swam to first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.91. Lengel also grabbed first in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.82 as she edged UW-Oshkosh's Sydney Challoner by .01 seconds.
Lengel also finished second in the 100 freestyle in 55.40 seconds and swam on the second-place 200 freestyle relay team, which posted a time of 1:43.44.
Lengel helped the Vikings to fourth place in the team standings.
Lawrence takes a short break from competition for finals and the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to action at the Pioneer Classic at Grinnell College on Dec. 6-7.
