Holsen uses perfect week to capture MWC Player of the Week honor

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's tennis standout Lindsay Holsen was unbeaten on the week and named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.

Holsen (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) posted a perfect week in singles and doubles to lead Lawrence to a 3-1 mark. Holsen went 4-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed with Katie Nottberg (Loveland, Colo./Loveland) to go 4-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Holsen started the week with a 6-1, 6-1 singles win and an 8-2 doubles victory in Lawrence's 8-1 triumph over Ripon. Holsen helped extend Lawrence's winning streak against the Red Hawks to 14 matches. In a 7-2 win over Illinois College, Holsen won in straight sets in singles and posted another 8-2 victory in doubles.

Holsen rallied for a 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) singles win against Knox and picked up an 8-5 doubles victory. Holsen finished the week with a pair of close wins in singles, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9), and doubles, 8-6, in Lawrence's 7-2 win over Monmouth.

Holsen improved to 4-4 in singles and 5-3 in doubles this season.

Lawrence returns to action this weekend when the Vikings have road matches at Lake Forest College, Beloit College and Lakeland University.
