Vikings romp past Illinois College

Amelia Watson was a winner at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles for the Vikings against Illinois College.

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's tennis team romped to an 8-1 Midwest Conference victory over Illinois College on Saturday at the Lawrence Courts.

The Vikings swept the doubles matches and then took five of the six singles contests.

The No. 1 doubles team of Margot Connor and Emma Koppa won 8-1, and Morgan Fisher and Jacki Healy were 8-6 winners at No. 2. Lauren Aturaliya and Amelia Watson posted an 8-3 win at No. 3.

Connor (No. 1), Aturaliya (No. 2), Koppa (No. 3), Watson (No. 5) and Healy (No. 6) all won in straight sets in singles. Healy didn't drop a game en route to her victory, and Watson lost just one game.

Lawrence is now 4-3 on the season and that includes a 3-1 mark in the league. Illinois College fell to 1-4 overall, 1-3 in the conference.
