Vikings romp to shutout win over Ripon

RIPON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's tennis team romped to a 9-0 Midwest Conference victory over Ripon College on Saturday at Ripon High School.

Lawrence started out on a strong note by winning the three doubles matches and dropping just two games in the process. The No. 2 team of Morgan Fisher and Jacki Healy and the No. 3 team of Lauren Aturaliya and Amelia Watson were both 8-0 winners. The No. 1 team of Margot Connor and Emma Koppa won 8-2.

Healy was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 6 singles, and Koppa posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3. Connor at No. 1, Aturaliya at No. 2 and Fisher at No. 4 all won straight sets, and Watson needed a super-tiebreaker to record the victory at No. 5.

Lawrence improved to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Ripon slipped to 2-7, 1-5 in the league. Lawrence has now won 15 of the last 16 matches against the Red Hawks.
