Robins takes first in 100, second in 200 to lead Lawrence at Viking Invitational

APPLETON, Wis. -- Fanita Robins scored a first-place finish and a second on Saturday to pace the Lawrence University women's track team at the Viking Invitational at Whiting Field.

Robins crossed the line in the 100 meters in 13.12 seconds to edge St. Norbert College's Mckenzie Mattes, who was second in 13.13. Robins also grabbed second in the 200 in 27.49 seconds.

Led by Robins, the Vikings finished second with 123 points. St. Norbert was first with 290, Ripon College took third with 110 and the Greater Milwaukee Track Club was fourth with 21.

The Vikings recorded four more second-place finishes.

Kate Kilgus ran to second in the 800 meters in 2:24.13, and Courtney Fine was second in the 5,000 meters in 21:59.16.

The 4x100 relay team of Robins, Eryn Blagg, Janey Degnan and Mikaela Hintz was second in 51.22 seconds. The 4x400 team of Degnan, Hintz, Kate Kilgus and Amy Hutchings took second in 4:16.85.
