Hintz, Nichols pick up wins at St. Norbert Invitational

DE PERE, Wis. -- Mikaela Hintz and Will Nichols both picked up victories for the Lawrence University track and field team on Thursday at the St. Norbert College Mid-Week Invitational at Schneider Stadium.

Hintz won the 400 meters in 1:03.55, and Nichols grabbed the top spot in the 100 meters in 11.44 seconds.

Hallie Sogin finished third in the 400 in 1:08.10, and Janey Degnan was fourth in 1:08.14. The Lawrence women also grabbed three of the top five spots in the 1,500 meters. Christina Sedall was second in 5:25.16, Erin Schrobilgen was third in 5:29.19 and Molly Doruska was fifth in 5:43.69.

The women's 4x400 relay of Degnan, Hintz, Kate Kilgus and Alyssa Kuss was third in 4:37.02. 

Alex DuVall led the rest of the Lawrence men's contingent by finishing second in the 400 in 54.92 seconds. Cullen Allard took second in the 800 for the Vikings in 2:06.02. Alec Timpe grabbed third in the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:50.60, and Ben Schaefer was fourth in the 1,500 in 4:33.17.

Gabe Baker placed in two field events as he took third in the shot put at 11.85 meters and was fourth in the discus at 33.61 meters.
